⏳ Time-Shift Chess — Game Rules
The Boards
You play on 3 chess boards simultaneously: Young (Board 1), Middle (Board 2), and Old (Board 3). Each starts from the standard chess position.
Turn Order
Turns rotate in a fixed cycle: Board 1 White → Board 1 Black → Board 2 White → Board 2 Black → Board 3 White → Board 3 Black → repeat.
Finished boards are skipped automatically.
⚡ The Time-Shift Rule
This is the heart of the game. When a piece is captured on Board 1, that same piece instantly vanishes from Boards 2 and 3 as well. When captured on Board 2, it vanishes from Board 3. Captures ripple forward through time.
If a disappearing piece was shielding a king, that king may be instantly exposed — even though it is not that player's turn. Because they cannot respond, they lose that board immediately.
Winning a Board
A board ends by checkmate, stalemate (draw), or a time-shift instant loss when a piece vanishes and leaves the king in check.
Winning the Match
Win 2 out of 3 boards to win the match. A 1-1 split with one draw is a draw.
Strategy Tips
Captures on Board 1 are the most powerful — they cascade into both later boards.
Always consider whether a piece on Board 1 is also shielding a king on Board 2 or 3.
A piece that looks safe may vanish without warning when an earlier board resolves.
You can sacrifice a piece on Board 1 to dismantle your opponent's defense on Boards 2 and 3.
